Five courses · Pre‑Algebra to Pre‑Calculus
ProvingBench
Math you work through, not watch.
A math study guide from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus. 1,069 lessons, thirty problems in each one, a scratchpad to work them on, and answers that wait until you have had a go.
Coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.
Pre-Algebra is free. Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus are $4.99 each in the US. One payment, no subscription, no account.
Algebra 1 · Set 3, problem 4
Solve for x: 3(x − 4) = 18
- 01x − 4 = 6Divide both sides by 3.
- 02x = 10Add 4 to both sides.
Check: 3(10 − 4) = 3 × 6 = 18

Try before you buy
Every course opens to its full outline and first lesson before you pay. A purchase stays with your Apple or Google account, on each device you use.
How a lesson works
The same shape every time, so nobody has to learn the app before they can learn the math.
Read the idea
A short explanation in plain language, with the notation introduced rather than assumed.
Work a set of six
Problems appear one at a time. The scratchpad is right there, so the working happens in the app instead of on a napkin.
Reveal when you have had a go
The answer stays hidden until you ask for it. When it appears it brings the steps with it, not just the result.
Four more sets when you want them
Thirty distinct problems per lesson, so a second pass is genuinely a second pass.
Review what you got wrong
Every missed problem is collected in one place, with a link back to the lesson it came from and to whatever it builds on.
Built for how people actually study
A scratchpad on every problem
Write with a finger or an Apple Pencil. The working is saved with the problem, so you can come back and see what you did.
Every equation is spoken properly
All the math carries a written-out spoken form, so VoiceOver and TalkBack read "two thirds" rather than skipping the fraction.
It says what it builds on
Lessons link back to their prerequisites. When the trouble is not this lesson but the one underneath it, you can go straight there.
Search that finds the topic
Search across all five courses at once, by topic name, by the words in it, or by what your textbook calls it.
Lines up with your textbook
Pick your textbook and the lessons show the matching chapter, so a study guide can sit next to whatever course you are already taking.
Works with no signal
Everything is on the device. There is no network code in the app at all, so it behaves the same in a car, a waiting room, or on a plane.
For homeschool families
ProvingBench can produce a record of what was actually done: the days worked, the measured time in the app, the topics opened and practice sets completed per course, and pages of the student's own handwritten working, redrawn at print size.
It comes out as a US Letter PDF, black on white, plus the same data as JSON.
It is a record, not a transcript. It counts what happened and hands it over. It claims no standard, awards no credit, and says so on the page - because an evaluator should be able to trust the small claims rather than discount the large ones.
Privacy policy
Last updated October 5, 2026
ProvingBench collects nothing.
That is less a policy position than a description of the code. The app contains no networking: no server to send anything to, no analytics, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter, no third-party framework that phones home. It behaves identically with the device in airplane mode.
What stays on your device
- Which lessons you opened, which practice sets you worked, and which answers were right or wrong.
- Your handwritten scratch work.
- The name you type onto an activity record, if you type one.
- Your settings: theme, current course, chosen textbook.
All of it lives in the app's own storage on your device. We are not holding an encrypted copy somewhere, because we are not holding a copy at all.
What we receive
Nothing. We cannot see your progress, your working, or your name. If you email support, we know only what you choose to put in the email.
Each topic has a Report a problem button for telling us about a mistake. It opens your own email app with a message to us already started, naming the topic, the units you read it in, the app version, and the kind of device and system you use. You can read and change every line, and nothing is sent unless you send it. The app itself sends nothing; the email goes through your mail app like any other.
Purchases
Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus are one-time in-app purchases handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details or your billing address. The stores report sales to us in aggregate, with no information identifying any buyer.
Children
ProvingBench is a general-audience study app for teenagers and adults learning math. It is not directed to children under 13. The app collects nothing from anyone, of any age: there are no accounts, no messaging, no user content shared with anyone, no advertising, no analytics, and no links out of the app inside a lesson. The only way anything reaches us is an email someone chooses to send. If you are a parent and believe your child under 13 has emailed us, tell us and we will delete it.
When you export a record
The export writes a PDF and a JSON file on your device and hands them to the system share sheet. Where they go next is entirely your choice - a printer, an email, a file. We are not part of that step and receive no copy.
Deleting your data
Delete the app. Everything goes with it. There is no server-side copy to request, because none was ever made.
Apple's privacy manifest
The app's privacy manifest declares no tracking, no tracking domains, and no collected data types. It declares one required-reason API: reading and writing the app's own settings (NSPrivacyAccessedAPICategoryUserDefaults, reason CA92.1).
Changes to this policy
If this ever changes - if some future version adds an optional account, for instance - this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described here rather than quietly swapped in.
October 4, 2026: added the Report a problem button and what its email contains, and said who the app is for.
October 5, 2026: named all four paid courses under Purchases; Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus had been left out.

Support
Getting help
Email support@provingbench.com. Tell us your device, the course, and the lesson name, and we can usually work out what happened. A wrong answer or a typo in a lesson is worth reporting - those get fixed.
Refunds
Purchases go through the stores, so refunds do too. On iPhone and iPad, use reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, use Google Play's refund process. We cannot issue a refund ourselves, but tell us what went wrong anyway.
Restoring a purchase
New phone, or reinstalled the app? Open the Progress tab inside the app and choose Restore purchases. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account or Google account, not to the device.
Deleting your data
There is no account to delete and no server-side data to request. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
Accessibility
Every equation carries a spoken form for VoiceOver and TalkBack, and all text scales with the system text size setting, including the math. If something is unreadable at your text size, that is a bug and we would like to hear about it.
Terms of use
Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus are one-time purchases that unlock those courses on the accounts you use with Apple or Google. They are not subscriptions and nothing recurs.
ProvingBench is a study aid. It is not a school, not an accredited institution, and not a course of instruction. It awards no grade, no credit, and no certification, and the activity record it produces is not a transcript.
The lessons are written for this app. Where a lesson names a textbook chapter, that is a pointer to help you find your topic. ProvingBench is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any textbook publisher, school, or curriculum provider.
Apps distributed through the App Store are also covered by Apple's standard licensed application end user license agreement.
